When you don't have a beer bong to hand but still want a buzz in a hurry, the shotgun is the perfect answer for the hassle free beer buzz. Try this simple technique to maximize your can of beer and chug like a champ.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Can of light beer.
  • Sharp knife or piercing tool.
  • Kitchen sink.
  1. Step 1

Take a can of beer and hold this over the kitchen sink in a ready position. Choose a light lager type beer and never try to shotgun using a heavy or dark beer such as an amber or imported ale. Have the knife ready near to the sink and cover your clothes with a cloth or towel if you are bothered about getting drips or spots on you.

  2. Step 2

Hold the beer under a tepid faucet for about a minute to warm the beer up a little. Ice-cold beer is really painful to chug so make sure that although your beer isn't warm to the touch, it is at least at room temperature. If you know in advance you are going to be shot gunning, leave the beers out for a few hours prior.

  3. Step 3

Position your beer horizontally and make a small hole in the side of the can near the bottom. An actual shotgun key is the best thing to use but if you don't have one of these, a sharp knife will work also. Be careful especially if this is your first time as if you don't get the hole in exactly the right place then beer will start shooting out immediately.

  4. Step 4

Put your mouth over the hole you have just made and carefully move the can back into an upright position. Suck at the beer coming out of the hole until you can't get any more. This prepares the can and gets rid of the excess so you'll find it easier to chug.

  5. Step 5

Open up the top of the can and drink as much and as fast as possible. If you find this difficult on the first try then you will probably have to train your throat to chug faster. Practice makes perfect so try to perfect the technique by trying again. For obvious reasons, don't try this all in one sitting and avoid wasting too much beer.
