Step 1
Turn on the tuner and press the "Guitar/Bass" button. Electronic tuners can tune either an electric or bass guitar. Make sure "Bass" is showing in the upper right hand corner to know the setting is correct.
-
Step 2
Strum the string you wish to tune and a single line will show in the window on the tuner. The string will be either sharp, flat, or at the proper pitch If the string is already in tune at the proper pitch, the tuning line in the window will be straight up and down in the middle of the window.
-
Step 3
Tighten your string if the tuning line is below, or to the left, of the proper pitch line. This means that your string is flat, or below the proper pitch. Tighten the tuning knob at the end of your bass guitar.
-
Step 4
Loosen your string if the tuning line is above, or to the right, of the proper pitch line. This means that your string is sharp, or above the proper pitch. Loosen the tuning knob at the end of your bass guitar.
-
Step 5
Repeat Steps 2 through 4 above until all the strings on your bass guitar are properly tuned.
