Step 1
Resist outwards. This means you rotate your extended right arm counterclockwise so your palm turns to the outside. Do this very quickly in order to make your assailant readjust his grip. When you resist outwards, you are applying pressure on the weakest part of his grip, his thumb.
-
Step 2
Twist the same arm in the opposite direction immediately. You have only a split second while your assailant is readjusting his grip to switch directions and twist your arm in the other direction, bringing your hand to the inside. Try a light swinging motion to increase your power.
-
Step 3
Grab his arm on top with your hand. You now have rotated your entire hand around and your arm is on top of his. Grab his arm firmly. This is obviously harder if you are much weaker than he is. Use every ounce of your strength.
-
Step 4
Pull your opponent into a groin kick and run. Alternately, push him backwards and downwards and run. The idea behind self-defense is to escape, not to stick around so he can grab you again. By pulling him, you can offset his balance, which is the better choice if you are much weaker.

Step 5
Practice this Kung Fu escape move for a wrist grab repeatedly with a friend until you can do it naturally, without having to think it through. Quickness is the key in Kung Fu and it offers you a small window of opportunity in which to escape. If you hesitate, you lose the element of surprise.
