Balloon hats are an essential part of every balloon modeler's bag of tricks. Wearable balloon hats come in a countless array of styles which you can adapt in any way you like. There is no hat more suitable for the repertoire of a balloon sculpting entertainer than the jester's hat. With a few bright balloons and a couple simple twists, you'll be wearing the jester's hat in no time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 brightly colored long balloons
  1. Step 1

Choose three balloons in the classic jester colors; yellow, red and blue. Inflate the three balloons with about 2 uninflated inches at the ends. Grab your yellow balloon and put a loose twist about 1 inch from the knotted end. Make another twist about 6 inches from the knotted end, and then let the first twist relax open again.

  2. Step 2

Make a small bubble at the knotted end of your blue balloon and twist it onto the twist you made in your yellow balloon. Adjust the blue balloon so that it is at about a 90 degree angle from the yellow balloon.

  3. Step 3

Twist the blue balloon about 6 inches from the connection, like you did with the yellow balloon, and connect the red balloon to the blue balloon in the same manner.

  4. Step 4

Hold the 6 inches of the yellow balloon and form a bubble in the end again. Place the bubble about 6 inches below the connection on your red balloon and twist them together. You should now have a triangle made from the 6 inch portions of your three balloons with three long balloons pointing in the same direction.

  5. Step 5

Gather the three loose ends and make one twist about 7 inches above your triangle to join the balloons. Make a second twist an inch or two about the first and twist until the colors are alternating.

  6. Step 6

Squeeze and twist a small ball at the loose end of your yellow balloon, Press the bubble to the very end of the balloon and release the twist, forming a jester ball. Repeat with the red and blue balloons to finish your hat.

Tips & Warnings
  • While the instructions are given with the classic jester colors for ease, you can make your hat with any brightly colored balloons you choose.
