Balloon hats are one of those novelties that bring a smile to every one. It's fun to watch a bunny balloon hat be made, but even more fun wear. When you can make a bunny or propeller hat, you'll be the life of every party.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 pencil balloons

    Make a Bunny Hat

  1. Step 1

Begin with a classic helmet shape, which is 3 balloons with small bubbles twisted at the ends. Lock the 3 together by twisting the bubbles around one another. Shape them so that one goes above each ear and another goes from forehead to neck.

  2. Step 2

Take another balloon and twist-lock a very small section at one end to the tied-off end. This should make a loop.

  3. Step 3

Tug on each end of the loop. Then, twist-lock the untwisted end to create two equal lengths.

  4. Step 4

Move to the center and make another twist that locks together both sides of your loop. You'll end up with what appears to be a bow-shape, or ears.

  5. Step 5

Fold the two sections of balloons into a "V" and bend each section of the "V" in half, facing outward, to give them the droopy appearance typical of bunny ears.

  6. Step 6

Secure the ear-shaped balloon to the helmet by twist-locking it to the top of your balloon helmet. Reshape the ears of your bunny balloon hat as needed.

  7. Create a Propeller Hat

  8. Step 1

Begin with a classic helmet shape, as before.

  9. Step 2

Create 2 bows by following the instructions in Steps 1 through 4 above.

  10. Step 3

Twist-lock the 2 bows together in the center. Use this center-twist to wrap the bows around the middle section of your basic helmet shape, just as you did the bunny ears. This secures your propellers to your helmet, creating your propeller hat.

  11. Step 4

Adjust the propellers by gently tugging them into position.
