Balloon modeling is fun for kids of all ages, and can keep you entertained for hours on end as you create your own unique characters. There are several basic moves that will help you to get creative and sculpt almost any creation you can imagine. Balloon modeling may look like magic, but a few simple twists, like the tulip twists, are all it takes to get you started.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin the tulip twist by holding an inflated long balloon firmly and carefully push the knot inside of the balloon using the tip of your finger. Push the knot into the balloon up to your second knuckle.

  2. Step 2

Keep your finger inside of the balloon and use your other hand, to firmly grip the knot through the balloon as you pull your finger out. Be careful not to pinch so hard that you break the balloon. When your finger is free, you should still have the knot pinched through the balloon with the fingers of your other hand.

  3. Step 3

Twist a bubble into the balloon just above where you are holding the knot and release the knot. An extra length of balloon and the knot should now be locked inside.

  4. Step 4

Gently squeeze the long portion of the balloon to secure the twist's hold, and you should now be able to see the formation of a tulip at the end of the balloon. The tulip twist is used to make a number of characters, flower formations and other types balloon animals.
