Things You'll Need:
- Balloons, type 260
- Balloon hand air pump
-
Step 1
Purchase a number of long, skinny "260" balloons. A "260" balloon is so named because when blown up all the way, it is two inches wide and 60 inches long. Qualatex and Betallatex are the two major professional balloon manufacturers.
-
Step 2
Buy a balloon hand pump (available at party goods stores). You should choose one that has ridges down the handle and a screw top.
-
Step 3
Place the balloon over the edge of the pump. Inflate the balloon about five or six inches (approximately two pumps). Tie off the balloon. The uninflated end of the balloon later forms the mouse's tail.
-
Step 4
Twist the balloon a few times to form a "bubble" approximately ¾ inch from the tie off. Make two more similar-sized bubbles next to the first one. Twist the three bubbles around each other. The first bubble should end up on the bottom (the tie off is the nose) and the other two bubbles should look like ears when positioned above the nose.
-
Step 5
Make another bubble to form the mouse's neck. Create two more bubbles and then twist those bubbles around each other and down to form the mouse's feet. One more bubble makes the mouse's body. Two more bubbles, twisted the same as the front feet, create the hind legs.
-
Step 6
Adjust the bubbles as necessary until the balloon animal appears mouse-like. If your first attempt is a failure, don't give up—since making a mouse requires several small bubbles, beginners may have trouble with this animal.
