While the adults are busy at the party, the youngsters need something to do. Keep them busy by making a balloon animal for each of the kids. It's not as hard as you might think, just a little twisting and turning of the balloon to make the shape. The youngsters will be entertained, and so will the young at heart. Here's how to make a giraffe.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Long balloons
  1. Step 1

Buy a package of those super-long, skinny balloons. Take one and inflate it, leaving about 4 inches uninflated at the end. Tie a knot to prevent air from escaping.

  2. Step 2

Go down about 2 inches from the knot and twist three times to make a bubble. Move down about 1½ inches and twist to make a smaller bubble, then go down another 1½ inches and twist to make another bubble.

  3. Step 3

Bend the balloon so that the two smaller bubbles are side by side, and twist a couple of times while holding onto the first bubble and the long section. This twist creates the ears and head. Measure about 10 inches down for the long neck of the giraffe, then twist three times.

  4. Step 4

Create the front legs by going about 3 inches down from the neck, twisting, then another 3 inches down and twist again. You'll now have two small bubbles. Bend the balloon so that the two 3-inch bubbles are side by side, then twist the two together to finish the front legs.

  5. Step 5

Make the body of the giraffe about 3 inches long, and twist at the end.

  6. Step 6

Define the back legs by measuring a 2-inch bubble, twisting three times, then another 2-inch bubble, twisting it. Bend the balloon so that the 2-inch bubbles are side by side and twist the two together to finish the back legs.

  7. Step 7

Leave the last section as the tail of the giraffe.
