How to Apply Tight Liner

Apply tightlines of eyeliner in the lash line to make your lashes appear thicker. This is a good trick for daytime wear; it's not as dramatic as what you would wear for an evening look. Eyeliner may be applied alone or with other eye makeup. Tight lines may also be achieved by using a brush. Tightlining is used by makeup artists mostly on the upper lash line.

Things You'll Need:

• Waterproof eyeliner
• Eye color
• Flat liner brush (optional)
• Magnifying mirror (helpful)

1. Apply your eye shadow on the lid and in the crease as you like. Choose makeup colors to enhance your eye color and skin tone.

2. Lift the eye gently and apply a waterproof eyeliner just along the lash line. Try to keep it off the membrane, which is the pink line inside the eyelids, and focus it on the eyelashes.

3. Use a wet/dry shadow if you don't want to use an eyeliner pencil. You can get a more smoky, sultry look with the shadow and brush.

4. Add a second line of eyeliner for a darker tightline.

Tips & Warnings

• You could also use a flat brush to apply a tight liner.
• It may take some practice to get the tight liner the way you like it.
• The lines should blend with your lash line and there should be no space between them. This gives you a very natural, thick look to your lashes.
• Don't use an angled eyeliner brush; you need a brush with flat bristles that is wider at the top.
• There should not be a visible line on the tops of your eyelashes.
