How to Apply Eyeliner for the Evening

When wearing make-up in the evening it's important that you apply it slightly darker than during daylight hours. This is done to achieve a darker and more defined look. This look can be achieved when you apply eyeliner alone or paired with other make-up. Follow these steps to apply eyeliner for dramatic evening effect.

1. Choose a color that best suits your coordinating outfit. A standard color is black, however a wide range of other colors are available including navy, brown, green and grey.
2. Sharpen the eyeliner pencil before trying to achieve a sharp, distinct line. If using a mechanical eyeliner pencil, simply twist up enough of the eyeliner to allow for thicker lines in the evening.
3. Begin from the inside corner of the top eyelid and sweep the eyeliner pencil across the eye along the lash line. This technique can be completed several times to apply just enough eyeliner to complete the look. For a heavier, more dramatic look, draw a thicker line.
4. Resume at the outside corner of the bottom lash line and slightly whisk the eyeliner from the outside edges towards the center. You can complete the line across from the outside corner to the inside corner for this evening look. Again, follow the natural lash line when you apply the eyeliner.
5. Finish the look by continuing the eyeliner past the outside corner of the eyelid. This is done many times with evening wear for that mysterious cat look.
