Instructions

    • 1

Soak 1 cup of almonds in a large bowl of water. Leave for a few hours, or overnight.

    • 2

Drain almonds and place in a powerful blender. Add 3 cups of water, a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of vanilla.

    • 3

Add sweetener to the blender. How much you add depends on the sweetener you prefer. Honey, liquid stevia or agave nectar are sweeteners you may consider. Start with a small amount. You can add more later.

    • 4

Blend at the highest speed for about one minute until it is smooth and foamy.

    • 5

Perform a taste test. If your almond milk needs more sweetener, add it now. If your almond milk still has too many chunks of almonds, blend it a bit longer.

    • 6

Strain with cheesecloth if desired. Many people enjoy almond milk as it is. Others prefer all the small, almond particles strained out.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use this method with other nuts or grains, as well. Try it with cashews, pecans, rice or oats. Mix different milks together for your own blends.

  • Use nut milks in smoothies or on cereals. You can even mix with cow's milk for those that are hesitant about drinking straight nut milk.
