Step 1
Find an old, plastic jar lid.
-
Step 2
Wash and dry the jar lid with soap and water.
-
Step 3
Get a box of borax. Pour some borax into the jar lid.
-
Step 4
Sprinkle the same amount of powdered or regular sugar on top of the borax.
-
Step 5
Mix sugar and the borax together with a clean toothpick.
-
Step 6
Group the mixed borax and sugar into a small pile at the center of the jar lid.
-
Step 7
Place the jar lid in an area where you've seen cockroaches crawl. Put the borax mixture in places where small children and pets can't reach it.
-
Step 8
Repeat the process and put more jar lids around you home where cockroaches roam.
-
Step 9
Clean your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
-
Step 10
Check the borax piles daily. Scattered borax piles mean that the roaches have taken the bait and have been consuming the borax and sugar mixture. If the piles remain undisturbed, sprinkle more sugar onto your borax piles and mix with a toothpick again.
-
Step 11
Vacuum your carpet. Sprinkle borax on it. Use a broom to sweep it into the carpet evenly. Let the borax sink into the carpet for a week. Vacuum the carpet after 7 days to remove the borax, dead bugs and their eggs.
