You're all ready to play golf with your clubs, golf shoes and even a golfing buddy. But you may be wondering how to choose between playing 9 and 18 holes of golf. If so, there are some easy questions to ask, to make a good and informed decision.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide whether cost is a factor. Many courses offer a discount if you only play nine holes of golf.

  2. Step 2

Look at the weather before you leave the house. If it looks like it might rain at some point during your outing, you may want to play a shorter round of golf. If the temperature is going to get high, low or is out of your comfort zone, you may want to play a nine hole of golf.

  3. Step 3

Reflect upon the physical limitations you or someone in your golfing group may experience. If members of your golfing group are older, out of shape or have certain medical conditions, you may want to choose a shortened round of golf.

  4. Step 4

Think about your experience level. If you've still new to the game of golf, an 18 hole round may be too much for you, exhausting you. In addition, an 18 hole round is much more difficult than a nine hole and your score may be lower than you'd like. Try a nine hole of golf if you're inexperienced.

  5. Step 5

Consider an 18 hole round of golf if you have golf carts. Walking to 18 different holes may require you to walk several miles, which may be too much for you. Conversely, if you want to get exercise, an 18 hole course may be perfect.
