Aquarium bubblers have practical purposes in a fish tank. They help add oxygen to the water which helps the fish breathe and makes the color of the fish even more vibrant. Bubblers are a great accessory that provide entertainment and exercise for some fish.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Cut tubing to the length you need for your tank. Remember to consider the height of the tank and the distance to the air pump.

  2. Step 2

Tape the tubing to the work surface. This prevents the tubing from rolling. Check the tubing to ensure that it can't roll. If it rolls, add more tape.

  3. Step 3

Decide how far apart you want the bubbles and how large you want the bubbles to be. This will determine the distance between the holes and the size of the holes.

  4. Step 4

Punch holes gently into the tubing. Be careful not to damage the tubing when making the holes. Remember to only punch holes in the part of the tubing that will be at the bottom of the tank.

  5. Step 5

Glue a plug into one end of the tubing using silicone. This will create the pressure necessary to make the bubbles. Allow the silicone to dry, and then rinse the bubbler.

  6. Step 6

Place the tubing into the tank. Make a design if desired. Cover the tubing with a thin layer of aquarium gravel.

  7. Step 7

Attach the open end of the tubing to the air pump. If the tubing is larger than the connector on the air pump, seal the opening with silicone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Watch your fish for two days after putting the bubbler in the tank to be sure that it is not stressing them out. Some fish don't like bubbles.
  • Do not plug in the air pump until you have placed the tubing in the water.
