If you want to see yourself from head to toe as you pick your outfits to wear for the day, you can buy yourself a door mirror. Door mirrors are a great way to make a room appear larger and to brighten up a dark or dingy space. Follow these steps to make the right choice.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide how you will mount your mirror. Over-the-door types offer easy installation and no damage to the surface of your door. Measure the thickness of your door because most over-the-door mirrors will fit only doors up to 1½ inches thick and some will only fit doors 1 inch thick.

  2. Step 2

Measure the surface of the door, and decide how large you want the mirror to be. Standard mirror sizes include 13 inches by 49 inches and 16 inches by 60 inches. Take into account factors such as how far you'll be standing from the mirror, and whether you want a full or half-length view, in order to choose the correct door mirror to buy.

  3. Step 3

Select a style for your mirror. Door mirrors have beveled edges, simple frames of plastic, metal or wood or more decorative designs and colors. Consider the room you want the mirror in. One style may fit into your bedroom and another might be best suited for your hallway.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hang the mirror on the outside of a closet door or the inside of a bedroom or bathroom door.
  • Glass stores can cut mirror glass in custom sizes for non-standard doors. You might also consider mirror tiles.
