Originally, herders placed cow bells on freely roaming animals to locate and identify them. While you may not have a herd of freely roaming cattle in your own home, these homey bells can give your house a rustic western atmosphere throughout the year or during special occasions. Shop for various colors, sizes and sounds to coordinate with your personal taste and decor.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create western napkin rings by slipping a strip of leather through small one-inch copper cow bells. Buy small gold or silver toned cow bells to fasten to drapery ties or the ends of wooden window blinds for a custom look.

  2. Step 2

Choose brightly colored larger 3- to 5-inch bells for birthdays and Christmas decorations. Adorn a Christmas wreath or Christmas tree with small or large cow bells. Use white cow bells for wedding decorations and party favors.

  3. Step 3

Place a large long distance cow bell in the kitchen and use it as a rustic dinner bell. You can buy cow bells with dull or sharp tones. Dull tones won't carry as far as sharp tones.

  4. Step 4

Buy bargain cow bells to cheer on your favorite home team. Choose sharp toned long distance bells for outdoor events. You can even purchase cow bells used at past Olympics to ring in a victory or display as collector items.

  5. Step 5

Assemble country wind chimes by stringing together cowbells of various sizes and hanging them from a tree or the ranch house eaves.

  6. Step 6

Order customized bells in set quantities for a special occasion. If you don't need 25 customized cow bells, dust off your creative talents and customize your own using your imagination and stickers and paint from your local hobby shop.

  7. Step 7

Buy tiny sterling silver or gold cow bell pendants and charms to identify your own country western style.
