How to Buy Bulletin Boards

Bulletin boards have risen above the mundane. Manufacturers are making stylish bulletin boards with more features for indoor and outdoor use. They come equipped with lights, locking doors and fabric-covered boards instead of cork-covered ones. Buying the right bulletin board comes down to defining its purpose.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Be realistic about the size of bulletin board that's needed. Although a small one may take up less space, it also can easily become cluttered and disorganized. Save small bulletin boards for simple tasks, such as posting daily messages. Large bulletin boards measuring 36 inches wide or more work well for organizing memos and other items for big projects.

  2. Step 2

Create any size bulletin board by using cork panels. The panels often come as squares measuring 1 foot, and they are applied to a wall using adhesive tabs.

  3. Step 3

Look for fabric bulletin boards if cork boards seem too casual for a setting. Things can be posted on fabric bulletin boards using pushpins or hook-and-loop fasteners.

  4. Step 4

Post activities on outdoor bulletin boards that are covered with locking doors and impact-resistant acrylic windows. Make sure the doors are equipped with a foam seal to protect posted items from the elements.

  5. Step 5

Light up a display with indoor bulletin boards equipped with double doors and concealed lighting centered over the door opening.

  6. Step 6

Choose combination boards for more versatility. Combination boards often include a cork board on one side and a chalk or marker board on the other side. These are useful for creating a stationary display on the cork board while being able to easily write and erase information on the other side.
