How to Visit American Celebration on Parade Float Museum

The parade doesn't go by you at American Celebration on Parade museum in Shenandoah Caverns, Virginia--you go by the parade. In a 40,000-square-foot facility, you can view floats from the Rose parade, Presidential Inaugurals and other famous parades throughout history.

        Decide the purpose of your visit. The museum offers more than just 30-minute tours for families. You can host a wedding reception, holiday party or corporate gathering there. It also offers field trips and educational tours, teaching visitors about America's entertainment and political history.

        View photos of the more than 25 float displays at the museum's website. You will find fire-breathing dragons, playful polar bears and a a regal American Eagle, among others. More photos are located in the media kit part of the site.

        Plan your route. The museum and adjoining Shenandoah Caverns are located less than a mile from Interstate 81 in northern Virginia. Directions are on the website.

        Prepare to spend your whole day there. The museum is just one part of a larger tourist attraction. Next door, visitors can tour Shenandoah Caverns, MainStreet Yesteryear (a collection of historic department store window displays for the holidays), and The Yellow Barn (displays depicting rural life, from restored antique farm equipment to a large treehouse with 5-foot squirrels, which serves as a children's activity area). One ticket allows admission to all four areas.
