A 3-on-3 basketball tournament is an event where a set number of basketball teams compete to determine a winning team. Each basketball team plays with three players on the court at the same time.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a location for the basketball tournament such as a local park or a gym. Once you find a location, reserve the location for a date in which you will hold the basketball tournament.

  2. Step 2

Determine the rules you are using for the tournament. A good example for rules and guidelines you can use is found on the Rose Hulman website.

  3. Step 3

Locate teams for your tournament. Ask friends and family for leads on people who may be interested. You may also opt to place an ad in a local newspaper.

  4. Step 4

Figure out how many teams you have committed to play in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament. With that information, make a bracket like the one found on the Sportsline website.

  5. Step 5

Print and hand out all the rules and regulations, and give a copy to each team prior to the tournament. Also offer to answer any questions that may arise before the tournament is played.

  6. Step 6

Mediate any problems that come about during the play of the tournament. When in doubt, try to be as fair as possible when making a ruling.

  7. Step 7

Give a championship trophy or certificate to the winning team. Remember to thank all the participating teams and to congratulate the teams that played well.
