How to Stretch for Squash

Exercise contracts the muscles and unless you stretch for squash to elongate the muscles, you open yourself to the risk of injury. Stretching ensures your body moves freely inside the court, reaching balls that you never thought possible.

Instructions

    Stretching the Neck for Squash

  1. Step 1

    Look straight while standing comfortably.

  2. Step 2

    Rotate your head gradually from side to side.

  3. Step 3

    Lower your chin gradually toward the neck, and then back for a full extension. Perform this move a couple times.

  4. Step 4

    Alternate and lower the chin again toward the neck. But this time gradually move it from side to the other side.

  5. Stretching the Tricep for Squash

  6. Step 1

    Place one of your elbows over your head with arm bent and the hand behind the neck.

  7. Step 2

    Take the opposite hand, grab the elbow and pull down toward the opposite side of the bent elbow.

  8. Step 3

    Perform the same stretch on the other arm.

  9. Stretching the Shoulder and Bicep for Squash

  10. Step 1

    Stand in a comfortable position with feet about three feet apart.

  11. Step 2

    Interlock hands behind the back.

  12. Step 3

    Lean forward from the hips, lower your back and lift your arms up towards the ceiling.

  13. Stretching the Quads for Squash

  14. Step 1

    Stand near a wall for balance.

  15. Step 2

    Bend the knee farthest from the wall.

  16. Step 3

    Grab the foot of the bent knee and draw the foot up to your buttocks.

  17. Step 4

    Switch sides at the wall and perform the same stretch on the other leg.

Tips & Warnings
  • Breathe throughout this stretch.
  • Feel the stretch in the back of your legs as well.
