How to Spend a Day at the NYSE

The New York Stock Exchange is the largest premier financial trading forum in the United States. Although the NYSE is no longer open to the general public or to tour groups, opportunities still exist to visit the trading floor. Enroll in an educational program sponsored by the NYSE or consider a trading career to spend the day at the NYSE.

Instructions

1. Spend the day at the NYSE with other journalists and college professors. Interact with trading floor professionals and visit the Stock Watch area in a program designed for academics and journalists. 2. Join other teachers in an educational workshop sponsored by the NYSE. Learn about all aspects of the market system and learn how to include educational materials about the stock market into your curriculum. Visit the floor of the NYSE and interact with floor trading professionals in this five day, free seminar. 3. Watch the trading floor at the NYSE from the Members Gallery by attending a seminar for college and graduate students. Ask questions about the stock exchange during this 90 minute educational seminar. Contact the NYSE's Educational Services Department at [phone] to register for the program.

4. Apply for an internship position at the NYSE. Paid summer internships are available in a variety of business divisions for qualified college students. Internships for school credit during the academic year are available in the technology department of NYSE Euronext. 5. Interview for a job with the NYSE Euronext. Visit the NYSE Euronext website for more information about careers with the NYSE in the United States or around the world. Send your resume to [e-mail] or to the address listed on the job posting.

6. Become a Member Organization of the NYSE and apply for a trading license. Individuals can qualify as a Member Organization. Contact the NYSE Membership Services at [phone] for more information on license applications. Pay $44,000 dollars for your license after approval and you can spend the day at the NYSE.

7. Grow a company and take it public. Be invited to ring the opening bell of the NYSE on the first day your company is listed on the stock exchange.
