Step 1
Prepare for your future starring roles by spending lots of time in the gym lifting weights and building stamina. Even if you have stunt doubles, you still need to be strong and flexible for action roles.
-
Step 2
Indulge your adventurous side. You can't become a summer action movie star if you aren't willing to take risks. Take karate classes, learn how to shoot a gun or try skydiving.
-
Step 3
Fine-tune your acting skills by watching lots of summer action films and taking any opportunity to act in local plays and productions. Find acting classes near your home by searching on the Acting Schools website or by looking into classes at a local community center or theater (see Resources below).
-
Step 4
Visit the Auditions or Actingbiz websites for casting calls in the area in which you live (see Resources below). Though some star actors are discovered without even trying, most work hard and attend many auditions.
-
Step 5
Search the Auditions website by clicking on "Film Auditions" on the top banner. Select "Feature Film" or another category in the "Casting Category" drop-down box. Choose the city you live nearest to or are willing to travel to in the "Market" drop-down box, and then press "Search" for results.
-
Step 6
Click on a production you are interested in to see whether you are well suited to the part. If you see a role you would like to audition for, click on "Submit yourself for this role."
-
Step 7
Search the Actingbiz website by clicking on "Casting Calls and Auditions" and following the links to pay for a subscription. After submitting your personal and credit-card information, you will be allowed to search for roles by gender, age, type and location.
-
Step 8
Build up your acting resume by auditioning for a variety of movie roles that will show your acting skills and athletic abilities.
-
Step 9
Have professional photographs taken of yourself, and mail them out with your acting resume. You should send this package to action film casting directors, producers and agents.
-
Step 10
Save your money and move to Los Angeles, so you can be close to major studios and rub elbows with other aspiring actors.
-
Step 11
Try a few roles as an extra. Such small roles may lead to bigger parts.
