You live in New England and are packing for a fun-filled vacation to the Pacific Northwest. You don't have time to find a weather report on TV and need to know whether or not to bring an extra sweater. It has never been easier to check the weather than now with the iPod touch. Program in cities you routinely visit and in a few swipes, you can complete your packing with ease.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Make sure your wireless network capabilities are turned on before you check the weather on your iPod touch. Tap "Settings" from your home screen and choose "Wi-Fi." Once this option has been turned on, your iPod will automatically connect to the Internet whenever you choose the "Weather" application.
Step2
Touch the "Weather" icon on the home screen to access the weather screen. The current weather conditions and 6-day extended forecast for your specified city will appear. The screen will show as light blue when it is daytime in your specified city and purple at night.
Step3
Choose whether you want the temperature readings to be displayed in Fahrenheit or Celsius. Touch the "i" inside a circle icon and select "F" or "C."
Step4
Add a new city to the weather screen by touching the "i" that is inside a circle and then the plus sign ("+"). Type in the city's name or zip code and touch "Search." Choose the city you want from the results list.
Step5
Swipe your finger to the left or right on the touch screen of your iPod to see the weather in another city. The series of dots at the bottom of the weather screen indicates the number of cities you have stored. Flicking back and forth will flip through each city's weather conditions.
Step6
Delete a city from your weather screen when you no longer need it. Tap the circle with the "i" icon and the minus ("-") sign in a red circle that is next to the city you want to delete.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check with a flight attendant if you are traveling with your iPod touch to make sure you may use it on a plane. Some electronic devices interfere with other aerial signals and cannot be used during flight.
  • Charge your iPod fully before traveling for optimum use. Make sure your computer stays "awake" and does not go into "sleep" mode while the iPod is charging. Instead of charging, the battery may drain.
