The Internet is a great place to meet new people, buy products, listen to music and even try out new things, for free! Using the Internet, you have the world at your fingertips.
Open your Internet browser. (example: Firefox, IE, Maxthon)
Step2
Do a search for: Free Video Cutter (or what you're looking for) either in your Address Bar or in the search area in the browser. Depending on your browser, is what search engine you will use. Different search engines: http://www.interfacebus.com/Search_Engines.html
Step3
If you prefer to use Google because your browswer does not use it automatically, in your address bar type: http://google.com. It will take you to the main google search page. Type your Free Video Cutter in their search bar.
Step4
Once you have located a page full of options, go through them and go from there. Take note on what type of program you're looking for exactly. Does it do what you're asking for? Will your computer handle the usage? HOw much space does it take? Memory...etc.
Step5
Download what pecks your interest and fits your needs.
Step6
Run a virus scan. If nothing comes up, install as you would any other program and then try it out. If you don't like it, just uninstall and try again on another program.
Tips & Warnings
Make sure your antivirus (and firewall) are up to date before downloading anything from any site, even those you trust.
Take notice, before you download, what you're looking at and for. In other words, if you're really wanting a free program, make sure it says so, and not 'Shareware', which is not free, but a "try before you purchase" and most times, those have limits. Some will also have time limits along with price listed. Take notice of those types.
If you installed/uninstalled a few programs doing this, I suggest running a Registry Cleaner to help get rid of those programs you didn't keep, so you're system continues to run smoothly.
Stay away from Gator and Kazaa products, period. They have spy and adware in their products and will cause havoc in your computer investment.
