A bunny is a grazing animal, and it helps to give them little supplements to their meals throughout the day. Though the main staple in their diet is timothy or oat hay, they need some fresh greens, fruits or vegetables to round out the bunny food pyramid. Rabbits have a notorious sweet tooth, so be cautious in the fruit area, as they will only eat fruit if they are presented with both fruits and vegetables. Here are some general ideas for giving your bunny the good food she craves and that will keep her healthy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Bunny yogurt chips
  • Alfalfa pellets
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Weeds
  • Dandelions

Step1
A bunny will eat almost anything from the garden. They aren't interested in sour things like onions or bland things like potatoes or green beans, or things with a stronger flavor like fennel.
Step2
Try giving your bunny any leftovers from salads you make. They will eat celery, carrots, lettuces, broccoli and spinach. Iceberg lettuce is not recommended, and use spinach in small doses as they can get diarrhea.
Step3
Try giving your bunny oranges (peel and all), apples, bananas, pears, strawberries and grapes. Use bananas and grapes as special treats only, because of their high sugar content.
Step4
At pet stores you can buy yogurt chips for bunnies. The recommended serving is only one per day because of their rich food value.
Step5
Pick weeds in your garden and serve them daily to your bunny. They will eat almost any weed happily, especially dandelion plants and flowers.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your bunny gets alfalfa pellets along with her hay.
