Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take some tips from a true pro when you watch Jaret Llewellyn's "Step in the Right Direction" DVD. Llewellyn is an 11-time world record holder and World Overall Champion water skier. His video provides a comprehensive introduction to water sports and water safety, and is a great addition to the novice water enthusiast's library. The video, available at RidingH2O.com, provides insight on technique and form for combo skiing, wakeboarding, wakeskating, slalom and shortboarding (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Receive beginning, intermediate or advanced slalom tips from nationally renowned water skier Gordon Rathbun. Rathbun's videos include "Beginning Slalom," "How to Slalom, Novice to Pro" and "12 Slalom Drills to Improve your Technique." Hailed as one of today's best water sport instructors, Rathbun's videos, available at Wiley's Pro Shop, offer a personal touch that makes you feel like you're sitting next to the expert himself (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Get your adrenaline dose when you select "Edged in Water" at WaterSkiVideos.com (see Resources below). This video is packed with 80 minutes of high-speed skiing, wild camera angles and action so powerfully close, you'll think you're there. Whether you're a water skier or just a sports junkie, "Edged in Water" offers an intense view of an intense sport. The video also includes some instructional bonus features and an interview with legendary water skier Wade Cox.

  4. Step 4

Check out the Wet and Wild World of Water Skiing series at Bennett Marine Video for a great basic video, "Beginning Waterskiing" (see Resources below). Designed to help beginners with everything from starts and turns to selecting equipment, this video is a great find for the water sport novice. Additional Wet and Wild videos include instruction on how to drive a ski boat, how to improve your water skiing skills, and how to ski board.

  5. Step 5

Test drive ski boats at WaterSkiOnline before you select a video (see Resources below). If it's boat footage you're interested in, WaterSkiOnline offers free video downloads, giving you an inside look at the features and ratings for an extensive list of boats.
