Some dads like to keep things simple for Father's Day. One of the best ways to tell your dad you love him is through a Father's Day card. Of course, there are so many options when it comes to greeting cards that it may be a little overwhelming to pick the perfect one. Luckily, if your dad is a sports fan there are lots of sure-fire ways to score big with a sports themed Father's Day card for his special day.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Look for cards that incorporate his favorite team's colors or logo. This should be especially easy if you live in the team's home city.
Step2
Enhance the sports card with music. Lots of greeting card companies are making cards that play music when you open them. They are available with a variety of songs and sound clips, so pick one that plays the fight song of your father's favorite team or the sound of a crowd cheering. He'll feel like it's game day when he opens it.
Step3
Go digital by including a CD with a slide show of great sporting moments, or simply send an animated ecard complete with game day sounds. There are numerous sport themed ecards available at 123greetings.com (see Resources below).
Step4
Find a card that incorporates important elements of your father's favorite sport. Some cards can look like game play books, game day programs or even various kinds of sports equipment.
Step5
Pick a card that is designed to hold money. These cards are perfect to tuck game tickets into instead of cash.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can't seem to find the perfect sports card for your father, consider making one of your own. Most word processing programs come with greeting card templates, so it's fast and easy to make a card for your dad. Have fun with it, as he will appreciate the effort.
  • Keep in mind that the post office will charge extra for over-sized or irregularly shaped envelopes, so you may want to think twice before purchasing a card that may cost you more in postage that it was to buy.
  • Buy only licensed material if getting an official team card. Any card that does not incorporate the official symbol of the various major sports leagues is not a legal product of the team and should not be purchased.
