Summer time is the time for baseball, barbecues and Father's Day. On the third Sunday in June, Father's Day is observed and it's a perfect day to combine all three pastimes. Many baseball teams have a game on Father's Day, making it relatively easy to go see your father's favorite team. Whether you go for one game or are lucky enough to catch a double header, treating dad to live baseball is a great Father's Day present.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Purchase tickets online via a broker like Ticketmaster before the game day (see Resources below). These tickets may be electronic and printable, or they may simply be left at the Will Call office at the stadium for you to pick up.
Step2
Buy your tickets early. Baseball games are extremely popular activities for Father's Day, so there is a possibility that the game will sell out well ahead of time. If it's an extremely popular local team or a Major League team, then you may have an even harder time finding tickets at the last minute.
Step3
Arrange to have a Father's Day message put up on the score board. You can even include a picture or ask that the camera zoom in on your dad at some point if the game is being televised.
Step4
Inquire with the stadium or team manager about who will be throwing the first ball. If you are going to a local or farm team game you may be able to arrange for your father to throw the first pitch, which would be a fantastic memory for that Father's Day.
Step5
Bring a baseball for the team or your father's favorite player to sign. If you drop off the ball prior to the game, a PR assistant will generally be able to get it to the individual player or circulate it to the entire team by the end of the game. Arrange to pick it up after the game and it will be the perfect gift to commemorate the day.

Tips & Warnings

  • Buying tickets through a broker can sometimes be slightly more expensive due to the surcharges they tack on to the price.
  • Be sure to check the weather forecast for your Father's Day baseball game. Unlike football games, baseball games are often delayed or canceled due to inclement weather.
