How to Cast a Fire Purification Spell on Summer Solstice
The Summer Solstice is magical. Falling around June 21, the Summer Solstice marks when the sun is at its strongest and nature is at her peak. With all these powers joining together, this day is a classic time for magic of all kinds. One of the most popular elements of this day's celebrations is the fire purification. This spell can be performed in a large group (coven) or even on one's own.

- Herbs
- God-like figure made of woven twigs and sticks
- Clean water

Instructions
-
Prepare for the Spell
-
1
Stage roses and summer flowers on the ritual shrine. Place a wreath on the altar.
-
2
Place the fir and oak woods in the center of the assembly circle.
-
-
3
Wear colorful, fresh flowers of the season.
-
4
Enter facing the eastern sunrise. Form the round geographical shape necessary for these rituals.
-
5
Take a small bowl and add oils and herbs that support your purpose.
-
6
Anoint yourself, and ask the gods and goddesses to bless your spell. Do this just outside the circle before it is brought to life.
Listen to the Chant
-
7
Light a bonfire as the priestess chants, "We celebrate the Mid-of-Summer, held in honor of the Sun King. All of nature vibrates with the fertileness of the Goddess and of the God. The earth basks in the light and life of the sun."
-
8
Listen to the priestess say, "The ever-turning Wheel of the Year has made the light ever stronger. The light has kept growing longer until today. The light is at its peak, Litha, Midsummer's Day, Summer Solstice."
-
9
Observe as the priestess continues: "From here, the light begins to fade until once more the Wheel turns to the time of darkness. As the light dies, so the Lord of Light dies Himself and sets sail across the dark seas of time, searching for the isle of light that is rebirth."
-
10
Hear the priestess finish her chant: "Yet, for today, the sun is high, the light is bright, the earth is warm. As the Sun God blazes above, may the fires of our rite flame below."
Call on the God and Goddess
-
11
Draw the exact dimensions of the circular arena in which this spell will be cast and call on the Goddess and the God for the fire purification ritual.
-
12
Dance, moving around the circle and the purifying flame, as you, the participants and any guests begin chanting: "She is luminous, she is white, she is shining, crowned with light!"
-
13
Continue the chant: "He is radiant, he is bright, he is rising, he takes flight!"
-
14
Move about the circle. In the middle of the rounded stage, the priest glides from person to person. He is holding the woven twig-and-stick god figure. The participants and guests place their flowers on the figure until it is inconspicuous.
-
15
Feel the magickal power grow as the priest and priestess move as if drawn to the bonfire. At the height of this strong feeling of energy, the priest throws the adorned god figure into the bonfire. All becomes silent as the chanting suddenly ceases.
-
16
Meditate, in the midst of the warm, crackling bonfire, on the sacrifice of the god figure and the flowers twisting in the Summer Solstice purification fire.
-
17
Stand at your place in the circle as the priestess carries the wreath to each person. She stops at each participant and guest, holding the wreath up to each face, so everyone can see the fire through the middle of the wreath. The priestess says to each person, "See with clear sight."
-
18
Visualize all your bad habits and troubles journeying through you and pouring completely onto the wreath as you place your hand on it. When all the ills of the group have been passed on, the priestess takes the wreath in her hands and clasps the wreath victoriously over her head.
Participate in the Final Chant
-
19
Listen to the following chant by the priestess as she holds the troubled wreath above her head: "Great Goddess and great God, from thee all powers flow forth: Lord and lady, great spirits of all that is."
-
20
Hear the priestess continue her wreath chant: "By thy powers and the powers of air, fire, water and earth, by thy powers and the powers of the sun, moon and stars, we banish these negatives from our lives."
-
21
Cast the leafy receptor of everyone's negativity into the flames.
-
22
Watch the fire burn lower and lower. When the fire is little but embers, douse it with water to make sure the flames all go out and there are no wayward sparks left behind to cause trouble.
-
23
Chant with the entire group: "As the phoenix rises from the ashes, so let this water purify and renew. Mother Goddess, bless this water, so that it may renew me."
-
24
Continue the following chant: "Father God, may your rays of the midsummer sun bless and nourish me, Lord and lady, may your blessings sustain me as I journey anew."
-
25
Ground your power by re-planting your roots and your energy deep into the earth, or use whichever grounding ritual you prefer.
-
26
Disassemble the circle and socialize, partaking of the food and drink everyone has brought.

Tips & Warnings
Practicing any type of black or negative magic is strongly discouraged. Remember that any type of energy you cast out into the universe comes back to you threefold.
