Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • milk jug
  • 20ft (6 m) of 3/4 copper coil
  • tea kettle (no opening in the top)

  • sealer
  • stopper(rubber)
  • patience
  1. Step 1

Get all of the materials listed

  2. Step 2

Take the milk jug and cut around the bottom so it resembles a funnel.

  3. Step 3

Coil the copper pipe about 7 or 8 times.

  4. Step 4

Put the stopper in the tea kettle and poke the meat thermometer through.

  5. Step 5

Get a 3/4 inch (19 mm) drill bit, to drill a hole in the stopper.

  6. Step 6

put one end of the coil through the tea kettle and put the other end through the bottom of the jug(near the lid)

  7. Step 7

Seal all the openings with sealer.

  8. Step 8

Fill the jug with ice water, so that the vapor has a chance to condense

  9. Step 9

Put the kettle on the stove(with liquid in it). turn the stove up high and wait for the liquid to evaporate.(if you are boiling alcohol, make sure that the temperature does not exceed 175ºF (80ºC) , or the water will also evaporate. AGAIN- this article is not to be used for completion of ANY illegal processes)

  10. Step 10

Put a glass at the other end of the coil to catch the distilled liquid.

  11. Step 11

    Enjoy

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure all the sealer dries before using it otherwise it will make a big mess!!
  • If you are boiling alcohol, keep in mind that it is extremely flammable!!
  • If you are trying to create alcohol, make sure everything is properly calibrated for making it because, instead of making ethanol (which is the alcohol), you could make methanol, which if consumed can cause blindness.
