Every year we get inundated with sugary surprises on Valentine's Day. If your child is in school, it's likely he'll come home with a bag of valentines and a bag of candy. If you'd like to try making a simple valentine with your child that takes a break from the candy and is a little bit different (while still sweet), then try this idea when packaging valentines for his classmates at school.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Styrofoam cups
  • Instant hot cocoa mix
  • Red and pink construction paper
  • Tape
  • Crayons or indelible markers
  • Plastic spoons
Step1
Make sure to buy enough hot cocoa packets and cups for the child's whole class.
Step2
Have your child cut out hearts, one for each member of his class. On each one write the name of the valentine receiver and the valentine giver.
Step3
Tape the hearts on each cup.
Step4
Put a hot cocoa packet and a spoon in each cup.
Step5
With markers and crayons, finish by decorating the cups. Draw colorful designs, hearts, flowers and cupids.
Step6
Stack them carefully in a paper bag to take in to school.
