How to Make Your Eye Color Stand Out

The eyes have been called "the window to the soul."

Your eyes are one of the first things that people notice about you, and are the main focal point of your face. Many women find it important to make their eye color stand out, but few take into consideration the factors involved for this. When choosing eye shadow or eyeliner, think about more than your own personal color preference. By choosing the right shades, you can really accentuate your natural eye color.

Things You'll Need

• Mirror
• Eye shadow and brush
• Eyeliner
• Mascara
• Complementary accessories
• Hair dye

Instructions

1. Examine your eyes closely in a mirror. Note the specific shades or hues found in your eyes.

2. Review the eye shadow color wheel (see Resources). Find your eye color on the wheel and go to the opposite side. The color found here will accentuate your natural eye color.

3. Purchase an eyeliner color that contrasts with your eye color to really bring out the color in your eyes. Use the color wheel as a starting guide for choosing this color.

4. Apply black mascara to your eyelashes; the black contrast will complement colored eye shadow or eyeliner.

5. Buy clothing in colors that accentuate your eye color. Refer to the color wheel again for the best color combination. Consider dying your hair to a color that has the same effect. For example, brown hair can enhance blue eyes. Green eyes may be highlighted with a red or maroon-colored top.

• Don't be afraid to experiment with colors. The color wheel is a good starting point, but feel free to explore all of your options.
