There are many pageants out there, but which one is right for you? In order to find the right pageant for you, you have to consider the time, energy and money you are willing to invest in your quest to be a beauty queen. Here are a few tips to guide you on your way.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide if you want to be a queen for a day or have a year-long commitment. If you want to be a queen for a day, there are holiday or cultural celebrations where a pageant is held to choose the queen for the festivities. In these instances the queen does not do much after the celebration is held. If you want a longer reign, consider a pageant where the winner goes on to another level. In this case, once chosen as a queen you will have to train all year in order to advance to the next level.

  2. Step 2

Determine if you are willing to travel long distances to win or if you want to stay in your hometown. If you are willing to travel long distances, you can participate a state or international pageants. However, remember that evening gowns and costumes don’t travel well on buses or cars, and you may have to spend time and money on air travel.

  3. Step 3

Make a list of the skills you have and what skills are you determined to learn. Some pageants require you to perform a talent. Make a decision as to what talent are you willing to perform, or if you can learn a talent well enough for the competition. If performing a talent is not for you, there are other pageant systems that do not have a talent competition.

  4. Step 4

Evaluate your physical condition. Most pageants will have a swimsuit portion of the competition which will count towards 1/3 of the final score. If you don’t feel comfortable in a swimsuit, you can consider a pageant that avoids this part of the competition or one that has a swimsuit competition that counts for less than the total score.

  5. Step 5

Consider your age and status. While most Miss pageants are for natural born females between the ages of 17 and 26, never married and without children, there are plenty of pageants for teenagers, married women, mothers and even individuals who are trans-gender.
