A handstand push up is the next progression from a handstand in gymnastics.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Make sure that you can easily hold a handstand for 30 seconds or more.

  2. Step 2

    Get into handstand position and try a small push up, lowering yourself a little and coming back up.

  3. Step 3

    You can have a friend hold your ankles to assist you during the movement.

  4. Step 4

    You can also rest your feet against a wall for stability.

  5. Step 5

    Try handstand push ups on paralletes.

  6. Step 6

    Now you can do a handstand push up!
