Fake Magazine Cover

We have all seen fake magazine covers. They are easy to make and free at FakeMagazineCover.com. All you need is a JPEG image and an image-editing program to add your own phony text. There are more than 400 covers to choose from and dozens of other fun photo applications to play with.

Instructions

    • 1

Upload the image of your choice by simply clicking on the browse button. If you wish to import a photo from a website, right-click on the photo, click "View Image" and copy the image's URL from the address bar.

    • 2

Select the file to upload and click "OK" or paste the image URL that you copied from a website.

    • 3

Click on the "Fake Magazine Cover" to select a template. There are a lot of other fun tools, but don't get distracted--you can play with those later.

    • 4

Scroll through the pages of cover templates until you find the one you want. To practice, select the "Time Magazine" cover. Double-click on the cover you want and within a few seconds it will be displayed on your computer.

    • 5

Save the cover immediately by right-clicking on the image and selecting "Save Image As." You will not be able select a file type; it will automatically be saved as a JPEG in the directory you select. Type in the image title and click "Save."

    • 6

Open the image in GIMP, Photoshop or another imaging editing program to add text. You cannot edit the text that is part of the template.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the covers you generate on your website or print them for special events or birthday parties.

  • Kids love seeing themselves on "Sports Illustrated" or "Cosmopolitan." Print them out for your next birthday party.

  • Print the finished cover on high-quality paper, frame it and give it as a gift for a birthday or an anniversary.
