Things You'll Need:
- A library card
- Access to the "New York Times" best-seller lists
- Access to a large bookstore, like Borders or Barnes & Noble
- A knowledge of what types of stories, genres or subjects interest you
-
Step 1
Think about what some of your favorite books have been over the years. See if you can develop a common theme throughout, such as fiction, self-help, romance and foreign countries.
-
Step 2
Try other books that contain that same common theme. A good way to figure out which other books you should try is to go to Amazon.com and type in the title of a book you enjoyed. The site will then reveal what other people who liked that book also read.
-
Step 3
Search the "New York Times" best-seller list to see what kinds of books are popular.
-
Step 4
Visit a bookstore like Borders or Barnes & Noble and find the section where a book you like is located. Examine books in that same section and choose a few titles to sit down and flip through.
-
Step 5
Make note of any books you tried out and enjoyed. Visit your local library and check those books out.
-
Step 6
Continue this trial-and-error process until you've establish exactly what you like to read. Once this is discovered you can expand your horizons accordingly.

I enjoyed reading your article. I sometimes ask my friends for recommendations. We sometimes pass each other books after we finishing reading them. If I enjoy the book, I will purchase it. It also services a means for conversation between friends.
