Scene kids usually have huge hair, wear alot of black, have over the top makeup and are often called 'emo'. Emo kids & Scene kids are very similar though. Mixing the two styles together is an option.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hairspray. Srsly dude. You'll need alot.
  • Black skinny jeans.
  • Chuck's. (converse all star high tops)
  • Alot of band t-shirts.
  • Black hoodie.
  • At least two black dresses.
  • Dull coloured, patterned dress.
  • Black hair dye. (not very necessary i think)
  • Alot of loose change to go to the city every weekend.
  • Colourful eyeshadow and eyeliner. [purple and blue are good]
  • BLACK EYELINER.
  • BLACK EYESHADOW.
  • necklaces, think colourful ones.
  • black low cut singlets/tshirts. [not too low cut!!]
  1. Step 1

Being a scene kid can become pretty costly. So save up! I suggest not to walk out of your house fully dressed as a scene kid in one day. Become one gradually.
I'll take you through being a more 'grundge' scene kid, and a more 'glamorous' scene kid.

  2. Step 2

The first thing you will need to do, is slip on your black skinny jeans! Next, put on a band tshirt, make sure it is not too baggy, if it is, tuck it into the side of your jeans. Black band t's are best.

  3. Step 3

Do your makeup a bit thicker then normal. No, a little more thicker then that, but please, do not make your self look like a racoon. Some scene kids do that, it just dosnt look that great.

  4. Step 4

Now, for your shoes. The classic black high tops. Make sure they are dirty. Run outside and jump up and down in the dirt, scrape your shoes in the ground, anything to make them look at least a year old. Now to draw/write on them. I've scrawled my name on one of my shoes. Then down the sides i have some lyrics from a few songs.

  5. Step 5

Okay, for the more glamorous scene look.
Instead of wearing band tshirts, get out your black low cut singlets/tshirts. Throw a stylish necklace in, preferably a long one.
For the shoes, wear cute flats.

  6. Step 6

If you are wearing a dress, throw fish net stockings, or regular stockings on. If they are normal ones, make a few holes in them here and there.

  7. Step 7

Now, your haaaaaaaaair. Get you're cans of hairspray ready. With a 'teasing comb' tease your hair, so it is not flat. That is really the goal here. Make it big, but not as in 'afro' big. Stylish big. Then spray it alot so it stays.
Explaining to someone how to get scene hair is hard. You really have to figure it out yourself.

  8. Step 8

Music plays a big part in being a scene kid.
I strongly suggest you introduce yourself to hardcore music. Develop a favourite hardcore band. Know the lyrics, band members names etc.
There is nothing worse then telling someone who your favourite band is, and they start talking about a specific band member in that band, but you dont know their names, and therefore stand there and nod without saying anything, pretending you know what they are on about. Also, you will be branded a 'fake scene kid'. Tough, but true.

If you just cant get into hardcore music, being a scene kid is not for you. I dont want you to dramatically change who you really are inside .

Tips & Warnings
  • add more grundge to your jeans, slip saftey pins through them in random places. Dont over do it.
  • If you are wearing a band tee, DO NOT, wear a necklace.
  • No really, dont have your low cut tops too low. Dont be a 5lut dude.
  • When spraying your hair, its best to get someone else to do it. You do not want to spray too close to your hair, it will look oily.
  • Put glitter around your eyes, on your eye lids, and on the outer corners of your eyes.
  • Dont worry if you're black jeans are dirty. You can wear blue denim ones too, just make sure you have a black shirt. :]
  • HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS :D
  • DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT, copy this article and paste it else where, saying you wrote it. Give me credit betch. Or, i'll come to your house and shove a razor down your throat. jks :]
  • Srsly, just dont.

on 5/4/2009 okay, this kinda p!sses me off...first off, not all scene kids listen to hard core. i listen to dance and techno too...anyways, having a "scene" style is COMPLETELY up to the person, and people who google search "how to be scene" must honestly be DYING from attention, if that isthe case, then please, by all means, go scene kid. but do it on your own. yes, we all know that skinnies and band tees are important, but that doesn't mean that you cant look up images of models like audrey kitching or zui suicide (i killed the spelling probably)become your own scene kid. you would get a lot more respect that way.
