How to Make a Homemade Frame as a Gift

Homemade gifts are both loved and appreciated. One of the easiest and most heart-felt gifts is a homemade picture frame. Here's how you can make one relatively easily.

Things You’ll Need:

• A photo in which to build the frame around
• A sense of the other person's style, likes and interests
• Craft ideas
• Craft supplies, which may vary depending on your frame

1. Find a photo that you would like to frame.
2. Examine the subjects, background and overall mood of the photo.
3. Think about where the person getting the frame is likely to display it--in an Earth-toned living room, in a sterile office at work, or in a kitchen surrounded by colorful fruits and flowers?
4. Use both the picture and the location it will likely be displayed in to determine how fun, professional, colorful or color-coordinated the frame should be.
5. Go to a craft store and determine what type of material you would like to make the frame out of. Popular materials are paper, wood and foam boards.
6. Embellish the frame with fun touches like stickers, lettering, paint, glitter or any small item that may work into the overall theme of the photo and frame.
7. Wrap and present it as a gift.

Tips & Warnings

• Though projects like this can be fun, try not to go overboard on embellishments like stickers and glitter. Unless this frame is made by a child and will be displayed proudly as such, less is typically more. Keep the frame to one base color and maybe one or two accent colors
