How to Watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” is a sci-fi television show, that airs on the Fox Television Network. The show is based off of the two main characters from the “Terminator” movie franchise, Sarah and her son John Connor. The show takes place after “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” but before “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.” The series is action packed, with several fight scenes, car chases and shoot-outs. It stars Lena Headey as Sarah Connor, Thomas Dekker as John Connor, and Summer Glau as Cameron.

1. Start with the basics, watch “Terminator” and “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.” The history of Sarah and John begins with these two films. They will help you understand who the major players are in the story, and why the characters act the way they do.
2. Get familiar with cyborgs, because they are in every episode. In the show they are called terminators, and they are from the future. They have metal skeletons covered with skin and flesh, which allows them to blend in with humans. They are given one assignment, and in this case it is to kill John Connor.
3. Root for Sarah, she is the heroine. Being a single parent is tough, but the constant threat of you and your child’s life takes the cake. Sarah is a very strong and independent woman who is always putting her son’s welfare in front of her own. She can shoot a gun, and fight in hand to hand combat. She also has one mission, and it is to keep her son alive.
4. Know John, he is the cause and effect of everything. He will grow up to become an important military figure that will fight and defeat the machine takeover. This is the main reason why his life is always in danger. Keep a close eye on the relationship between John and his protector Cameron; even though she is a machine, there is an odd chemistry between them.
5. Invest in protection. Cameron is a female terminator sent to the past to protect the teenage John Connor. Keep your eye on her because even though she is a machine, Cameron sometimes shows human characteristics.
6. Have an open mind. “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” is a sci-fi/ fantasy show. There is a lot of time travel, and a lot of computer talk. Things may not make sense at first, but if you continue to watch, the plot will begin to sink in.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not use “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” as a reference for what you think will happen in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles." The timeline in the show is completely different from that of “T3.” Therefore, be open to the idea that there may be a different outcome in Sarah and John’s lives than what you have seen or heard before.
