Step 1
You have to be a fan of independent women. Buffy Summers was a typical teenager who was into cheerleading and boys. One day someone who told her that she was the chosen one of her generation to become the vampire slayer. At that point she knew her priorities had to change.

Step 2
Buffy and her friends, who nicknamed themselves the Scooby Gang, battled everything including vampires, demons, ghosts, witches and even aligatormen. The mixture of humor and drama that was shared among the group during these strange circumstances became a favorite with the fans.

Step 3
Meet the Scooby Gang. Giles is the librarian at Sunnydale High by day, and Buffy’s Watcher at night. A Watcher is the person who is specifically trained to prepare his slayer for every force of evil she may encounter. Giles was also like a father figure to Buffy as a teen. Once she became an adult, he was less involved, but was still present in extreme situations to give Buffy and the others advice.

Step 4
Xander is the comic relief of the group. He can make a joke out of the most morbid situation. He was best friends with Willow and Buffy, and an original member of the Scooby Gang. After his awkward teenage years, he eventually got into a relationship with Anya a reformed sorceress, who also became a member of the group.

Step 5
Willow is Buffy’s best friend, and also a witch. When the show began she was very shy, and book smart. Willow and Xander grew up together in Sunnydale. As time progressed, Willow wanted to find a way to be more helpful to the group so she began practicing witchcraft. There are times when she would involve herself in dark magic, which would make her a threat to others including her best friends.

Step 6
Angel is a vampire cursed with a soul. Unlike other vampires he can feel the pain he brought upon innocent people when he was evil. During that dark time he was known as Angelus. Buffy and Angel were soul mates. Even though they were technically enemies, he being a vampire and her being the slayer. Angel left Sunnydale after two years with the Scooby Gang to start a supernatural P.I. agency in Los Angeles.

Step 7
Cordelia Chase, was a rich cheerleader at Sunnydale High. She wasn’t originally a part of the group, eventually came around and was a full-fledged member of the Scooby Gang. She left Sunnydale after graduation to go to Los Angeles, to become an actress. There should would eventually meet up with Angel, and become a part of his team at his supernatural agency.

Step 8
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was a show that embodied complex characters, with drama, comedy, horror and suspense. There are several ways you can get involved with this popular series. All eight of the seasons are on DVD, and the show is run in syndication on broadcast and cable television. There is also a comic book version that you can get into, if you have already seen the series. Try watching the 1992 film version of the show, that starred Kristy Swanson as Buffy, and Luke Perry, from “Beverly Hills 90210,” as Pike. There is a whole world of Buffy culture that you can get involved with.
