Low Hole is an easy card game to learn and is a fun alternative to five-card poker. Here is a way to play the card game Low Hole.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Standard deck of cards
  • 2-6 Players
  1. Step 1

Deal two cards to every player face down. Players are allowed to look at these cards. After everybody has received two cards, players have the option to check, bet or fold.

  2. Step 2

Deal one card face up to every player. Once again, players have the option to check, bet or fold.

  3. Step 3

Continue in this manner until all players have two cards in their hand (or "the hole") and four cards face up.

  4. Step 4

The game is called "Low Hole" because the lowest card that is in a player's hand, or "the hole," is wild. For example, if I have a three and a seven in my hand, the three would be wild. Also, if any of the cards facing up match the lowest card in my hand, those cards are also wild. Theoretically, a player could have four wild cards total.

  5. Step 5

Once all players have two cards in their hand and four cards facing up, a final card is dealt to all players. Players at this time have the option to choose whether or not they want to take their card face up or down. This will depend on whether or not a player desires to change his wild card. If the player wants to try his luck, he can take the card face down and hope to get a new wild card. If he likes the wild card he has, he can take the card face up. Either way, the card that is lowest in the hole is the wild card.

  6. Step 6

Players then make the best hand they can with five of their seven cards. The player with the best hand wins. Standard poker rules apply to determine the winner.

on 8/7/2009 Question: The Game is Low Hole Card Wild.
Two winners ... High hand and Low hand split the pot.
Situation … All 7 cards have been dealt.
The 3 hole cards are 10 – 10 – Ace
The face cards are Ace - 2 - 3 - King – Queen
The player states that his Ace in the hole is being played as a High Card.
Therefore, the two 10s are his low cards, and both are wild cards.
Does declaring the Ace in the hole High change the Ace on the face to a High card also ?
Can the face Ace be used as a low card to form the perfect low ?
1 - 2 -3 – 10 (4) - 10 (6) ?
