Typing your own blood is a simple process when you use a blood type test kit. It's good to know your blood type, as well as your family members' blood types, for medical reasons. You may wish to keep a list of the blood types in your family. As a bonus, when a blood bank asks for a specific type, you know who to turn to for donations. Here is how to type blood.

on 5/15/2008 I didn't even know that there was a blood test kit. Sounds simple to do. Thanks for keeping us informed.

on 4/29/2008 Also, people that go to a doctor annually can ask their doctor if it is in their records. When doing most blood work, one of the first thing the charts will tell you is your blood type. Great article, 5 stars.

on 3/5/2008 Great instructions, but personally I'd just have the Red Cross do it. That way you can get your blood type and do a good deed at the same time.

on 2/21/2008 Eeeww - great article but I think I'll pass. I'm glad the Air Force did it for me many years ago. Excuse me, but I'm feeling a little faint now!
