Things You'll Need:
- Original education certificates
- Sponsorship documents
- Information on course you wish to undertake in UK
- Approval from UK institute offering you the place to study
- Accommodation / financial proof for duration of stay in UK
- Bank Statements, pay slips and proof that you intend to return to your country after the course
- If you are applying for postgraduate study then you need an ATAS Certificate too
-
Step 1
First and foremost, organise all your documents in a nice presentation folder. You must be able to flick through the folder and produce the documents when requested by the interviewing officer. It is important to look and feel organised and in control, as this will reflect in your own confidence and presentation at the interview.
-
Step 2
The interview at the British High Commission is just like any other interview. Prepare yourself as you would for a job interview - rest the night before, [pamper yourself with a face pack to make you feel better] and wear your best clean clothes.
-
Step 3
Attend the interview on time, armed with your presentation folder. The interviewing officer has to determine the following during this interview:-
1. Whether you intend to study in UK or this is just a bogus application to allow you entry to the UK. Your intention is very important!
2. Whether you can financially support yourself in the UK
3. Whether your sponsor will financially assist you for the study course too
4. Most importantly, whether you intend to leave the UK at the end of your course. It is good to show your financial links and commitments in your country, i.e. business, family and intention to return home once equipped with the further education course. Prove how your life will improve in your country after the course in UK.
Bear this in mind when answering the questions. This will also assist you in putting together the proof of documents. -
Step 4
The interviewer will be watching you carefully for your body language and in particular your intent behind all answers. My honest opinion, is to be truthful and answer the questions. They are trained to watch for the 'dodgy' applicants, and if you are truly intending to study in the UK, you will have all the right answers to their questions, and no worries.

You will need a bank account to work in the UK. Transfermate.com provides UK bank accounts to students before arriving in the UK. Apply by contacting transfermate.com
Along with your bank account you can also transfer your college fees cheaper than you can using the bank.
