Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A bunch of fresh mint [or 4 tbsp mint sauce from a jar] Read glossary below.
  • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 green chillies, deseeded
  • 1 small onion
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup thick yoghurt
  1. Step 1

Wash the fresh mint leaves before using, and cut off any thick stems. If you have a nice large bunch, just pluck the fresh leaves and leave the stems.

  2. Step 2

Add the mint, cilantro, onion and green chillies to a blender and finely chop them.

  3. Step 3

In a mixing bowl, whisk the yoghurt so its nice and smooth. Add the chopped mint and other ingredients, season to taste.

Tips & Warnings
  • The mint chutney goes fantastically with spicy food - lamb meatballs, kebabs, onion bhaji or even with toasted pitta bread on a platter for appetisers.
  • You can make this ahead and it will keep in the refrigerator for 3 days.
  • Try to use fresh mint for best results.
  • If using Mint sauce from a jar - please make sure it does not contain salt, sugar or other additives. Use an organic mint sauce which has a water base. Depending on the strength of this sauce, you may have to reduce or increase the quantity of mint that you add to your chutney.
