Computer-based homeschooling puts our children in a environment with unique educational goals in mind, why not have a yearbook to chronicle this unique experience? Yearbook's themes chronicle highlights of the graduating class of a computer-based homeschool usually containing photos of faculty and graduating students. Let the world know how proud we are of their accomplishments and the history created upon graduating from homeschool with some creative yearbook ideas.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Student Life
A personal touch featuring the activities in a computer-based homeschool that directly shapes students’ lives starts off every high school yearbook theme. Summer vacation, homeschool trips and popular fashion styles--anything that is important to the students in your computer-based homeschool. Feature a large number of photos and plenty of room for comments and signatures.

  2. Step 2

    Academics
Focuses on the part of the school experience with the most class--classes. In this section, use photos of a variety of sizes to focus on the details that make learning fun and fill liberally with memorable pictures. The routine of students in pursuit of excellence, emphasizing each student’s role in education. Computers, lab experiences, writing assignments make this section a mainstay of your yearbook theme.

  3. Step 3

    Activities (Organizations, Clubs)
Clubs and activities are where everyone is recognized for participating in extracurricular activities. Fun candid photos of chess championships, summer camp or similar events should be the focus and always include large group photos. The value of membership is the goal of this section and can be an important part of the overall yearbook photography.

  4. Step 4

    Sports
While sports are the meat and potatoes of many yearbook ideas, computer-based homeschooling environments emphasize good health and brain power instead of muscle power. However, our main sport would come under the heading of martial arts. Photos can be packaged with stories about the group or individual "non-embarrassing" photos during training--no 90-pound weaklings under this roof. Don’t forget the people behind the scenes--trainers, fans, equipment handlers and especially the martial arts store or sporting goods sales people. Sports spreads require scoreboards, so creativity can come in the form of receiving a new belt, laying out an opponent on the mat or receiving a trophy.

  5. Step 5

    Advertising
Advertising in your homeschool yearbook should weigh heavily in recognition ads. They’re a great way to create a source of revenue to offset cost of the yearbook. Always a good fund raising, revenue generator every year of graduation--homeschooling moms make creative notes from this idea.

Tips & Warnings
  • Current news articles can help add flavor to your yearbook in any section.
  • Small businesses, as well as large ones, could donate to the publication of your yearbook. Plan B is family ads.
  • Martial arts store or sporting goods sales people should be more than willing to "give back to the community" they serve when it comes to advertising.
