If you have experience working as a coach, you should know how important it is to behave a certain way in order to achieve your goals. If you feel your life is not going the way you planned it, it may be time to reassess your priorities and find ways to change what is not working so you can make space for new things to come in.

From Quick Guide: Coaching Jobs 101
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Assess yourself. Sit down with a piece of paper and make two columns. On one side of the paper, write down where you are, your present situation, what is working and what isn’t in your life. On the other column, write down your goals, dreams and where you would like to be. Once you are clear of the difference, you can then start working on a plan of action.

  2. Step 2

Ask yourself difficult questions. You may need to get more education, change jobs or freelance on the side. If you are not doing any of that, you should understand what is stopping you. Whether is it fear, insecurities or lack of confidence, you need to address them so you can get change whatever is not working.

  3. Step 3

Create a plan of action. Set up daily, weekly and monthly goals. Keep a list of yearly goals too, but only as a remainder of something bigger you are working toward. For example, if your ultimate goal is to become a full-time freelance photographer, small goals can include saving up for a better camera, taking classes or building a portfolio.

  4. Step 4

Coach yourself to change your habits. Find ways to reward yourself for what you do right. If you make a mistake, don’t punish yourself for it, but try to understand the reasons behind it.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a coaching certification or experience, you should consider listing under the education section of your resume. Many companies appreciate the assertiveness that comes with the title, which can give you an edge at the time of applying for a new job.
