Step 1
Head to the local bookstore. There are hundreds of excellent books on the subject, not matter what your level of knowledge on the topic is. Basic instructions may be best if you want to know how to set up a website or edit a current one. As you gain experience, you can add more difficult topics, such as Flash and Animation, to the mix.

Step 2
Visit the 24hourHtmlCafe website for step-by-step instructions on the basics of HTML (see Resources below). The website is organized so you go through the units in a logical sense: from what HTML & XML mean to JavaScript and Frames. The website offers samples, tips and tricks and other details that make navigating and creating websites accessible to everybody.

Step 3
Go online to W3Schools.com for a step-by-step tutorial on everything related to HTML (see Resources below). At the website, you can learn formatting, attributes, scripts and URL encode. The lessons guide you through the full process of setting up your own webpage and editing its properties.

Step 4
Practice. Buy your own domain name and practice designing a website. Or set up a free blog with Blogger or Wordpress and then play around with its HTML code (both platforms allow you to customize your blog by altering the code).
