Writing an eBook is a great way to earn extra money. If you are not a writer, however, you may feel that your hands are tied when it comes to putting together appealing text that people will want to buy. The truth is that many of the eBooks that you see for sale online have been put together by non-writers that were aware of some insider secrets.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Don’t discount the idea of writing it yourself just yet. Even if you have no experience as a writer, you still have the knowledge about the subject and the ability to talk about it convincingly. If the problem is that you are not sure you can turn out a readable text, you can always write a first draft and then pay an editor to go over it and make it better.

  2. Step 2

Find content. Not only are there a lot of articles available online for reprint and distribution, but a lot of websites offer full eBooks or texts that you can download, modify and then resell in any form you want. Websites such as ProjectGutemberg are a good way to start, but also visit government websites and other free content providers.

  3. Step 3

Buy a CD or set of reports with reprint rights. These are often sold as packages and allow you to distribute them in any way you see fit. This means you can exclude the material that doesn’t fit your theme or add new one from other sources. Reports with reprint rights used to be extremely expensive but are now accessible and quite good.

  4. Step 4

Have somebody write it for you. If you want truly unique content but don’t feel confident in your abilities as a writer, you can get a freelancer to ghostwrite the content. Rates vary, but the final price is often low enough that you will be able to market the book and make up the investment after just a few sales.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before you put together an eBook, do an online search to see what is available and to evaluate the length and content offered by the competition. This will allow you to choose your material better and make the best of your eBook even before it is for sale.
