Looking for a quick game that can be played with literally any number of players, from one to 50? Looking for a game that doesn't have to stop when someone gets up to use the bathroom? Well, look no further than Ricochet Robots.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ricochet Robots board game
  • Good sense of spatial relations
  1. Step 1

Assemble the board by placing the tiles in a square with the four holes in the center. If any players are not familiar with the game, be sure the sides with the walls are face down. Place the small plastic square on the holes to lock the board in place.

  2. Step 2

Place the four cardboard robot tiles quasi-randomly, with robots on top of them. In other words, place them randomly, but if possible, try not to cover any symbol spaces, and try not to place a robot tile in a direct line with a symbol of its color.

  3. Step 3

Flip over the first circle chit and put it face up in the center, so you see the colored symbol. Attempt to find a path for the robot of that color to the matching symbol on the board. Robots move in a straight line as far as they can go until they hit a wall or another robot.

  4. Step 4

Once you see a path, yell out the number of moves in your path. (Each robot move in a straight line, no matter how far it goes, counts as one move.) The first person to yell out a number starts the timer. You may call out a lower number than your first one, and anyone else can call out any number of moves they see in a path, higher or lower.

  5. Step 5

When the time runs out, whoever has called out the lowest number gets to demonstrate their path. If there is a tie for lowest number called out, whoever has the fewest circle chits gets to go first. If there is also a tie for circle chits, whoever called out the lowest number first has priority.

  6. Step 6

If the path is demonstrated correctly, move the cardboard squares under the new robot positions, and the demonstrated takes the circle chit. If the path is incorrect, return the robots to their cardboard markers, and the next person who called out a number gets a chance to demonstrate the path.

  7. Step 7

Whoever has the most chits at the end of the game wins!

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that the edges of the board and the middle square of the board both count as walls.
  • Once you have called out a number, you cannot change it to something higher, so don't yell out a low number until you recount to be sure.
