Hoping to keep your big day for grown-ups only?

For formal affairs, children may not be on the guest list. But making sure tiny guests don’t crash your dream wedding takes a little preparation and finesse. Here are some tips to make sure your wedding is for adults only.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

There’s no rule saying the flower girl has to be a girl. Enlist a friend to serve as flower girl rather than a young relative. Instead of a ring bearer, just ask the best man to be in charge of the ring.

  2. Step 2

Let guests know that children are not included by printing the words “Adults Only Reception” on the invitation along with the details of the event.

  3. Step 3

Consider hiring a babysitter for the reception. Set up a kids room with toys and treats. That way parents can bring their children and the little ones can have fun in their own area.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, your wedding is your day and you have the right to have it how you want it!
  • If you do decide to have an “adults-only” event, be prepared to hear from people who find this offensive or rude.
